CzechTourism invites EXPO visitors to a fun exhibition about Czech regions

1. 5. 2015

A table with a touch map, a mobile application and a photographic screen – all this will entice visitors to the EXPO World’s Fair to travel in the Czech Republic. The CzechTourism agency will take part in the fair as part of the exhibition Land of Stories and Imagination.

CzechTourism will be showcasing the most interesting places in the Czech regions in May and again in October at the EXPO World’s Fair, which takes place this year in the Italian city of Milan. In other months the National Exposition inside the Czech Pavilion will serve as a place for the regions themselves to stage their presentations.

“Visitors can look forward to an interactive exhibition that entertainingly introduces Czech and Moravian tourist attractions, from famous UNESCO sites and traditional spas to undiscovered places of natural beauty”, says CzechTourism General Director Monika Palatková.

Part of the exhibition is to be an interactive table with a touch-screen panel in the shape of a map of the Czech Republic. Using simple hand movements several visitors at a time will be able to simultaneously learn about important sites in individual regions via short texts, photos and videos. In addition, the exhibition space will display large-format photographic panels, which will be connected with a mobile phone application. The application also allows visitors to be photographed in front of the panel and then add an optional background to the finished picture featuring one of several landmarks in the Czech Republic. So by taking a selfie, visitors can instantly “transport themselves” to almost anywhere in the Czech Republic, even though they will still be standing in Milan.

“Prague is already well known throughout the world as a tourist destination, so we want to strengthen interest in the different regions of the Czech Republic, and not just among Italians”, says Minister for Regional Development Karla Šlechtová.

Czech Tourism Authority – CzechTourism is a subsidiary of the Ministry for Regional Development, and since 1993 is has been engaged in the development of tourism in the Czech Republic. One of the CzechTourism’s main tasks is to promote the destination on the domestic and foreign markets, increasing repeat visits and boosting satisfaction among tourists.
