The Concept of the Exposition

The national exposition should be an illustration of the best that current Czech science and culture have to offer. The key to attracting attention and recognition is a strong and clear topic of the national exposition that complements the topic of EXPO, moreover it is a presentation of scientific and technological potential in areas where the Czech Republic can stand out on a global scale and, lastly, it is a show of contemporary art and applied design – or ideally a connection of these attributes, which is the ambition of Czech Republic’s pavilion concept.

An ecological construction of a large umbrella resisting the winds and high temperatures is covered in new generation solar panels, that create energy for the generator of water from the air and, at the same time, the umbrella provides shade for a garden with a spring, from which self-sustainably made water rises to cultivate the desert and which attracts attention from afar with its organic architecture.

Under the garden is an underground area with a glass wall, through which moisture from the spring can be seen nourishing the fungi growing in the sand and turning the desert into land suitable for cultivating green space. In the naturally cooled area is the “Prague Spring” restaurant with a view into the underground exposition and with an open exit into a shaded garden with a little amphitheatre – a playground.

The permanent part of the exhibition are samples of Czech leading design – especially glass and jewellery (highly sought-after commodities in the Arab world) inspired by water, which flows through the interior and makes it more pleasant. The rotational part of the exposition is intended for two week long exhibits of our partners – regions, institutions, private firms. The interior refers to the tradition and the offer of Czech and Moravian spas - in cooperation with the CzechTourism agency, individual regions, cities and businesses can present themselves here.
