EXPO: Czech Pavilion hosted Central and Eastern European Investment Day

Shanghai: On 26th July the Czech Pavilion together with other eight EXPO pavilions jointly hosted a Central and Eastern European Investment Day. Representatives of Chinese provincial governments, chambers of commerce and European commercial counsellors listened to the debate and presentations about new opportunities for economic co-operation between China and Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Bulgaria, Estonia, Slovenia, and Slovakia.
Commissioner General of the Czech Pavilion Pavel Antonín Stehlík highlighted strong points of the Czech Republic making it an attractive investment location for the expansion of Chinese companies.
Executives from well known corporations including Bank of China, Huawei and Shanghai Maling Aquarius shared their success stories in Central and Eastern Europe. New markets, advanced technologies, lower costs and strategic location were repeatedly mentioned as the main decisive factors for investments in the region.
The Investment Day was organized by China Investment Forum, the largest bilateral forum between China and Central and Eastern Europe. The forum will take place in Prague, Czech Republic between 8th and 11th November 2010. Petr Hyl, Executive Chairman of China Investment Forum: “We bring together top economic experts from the World Bank, WTO, OECD, Chinese and Europeanuniversities and business schools. 500 European and 200 Chinese business leaderscome to Prague to look for investment and trade partnerships. We want to clearlyshow that both China and Central and Eastern European countries can greatly andmutually benefit from closer co-operation, esp. in the area of research andtechnological innovations.”
