EXPO: Four million visitors have already passed through the Czech pavilion
Shanghai, 28/7/2010
Shanghai, 28 July 2010: The Czech Republic’s pavilion received its four millionth visitor still not quite halfway through the General World Exposition – EXPO – in Shanghai. Mr Dawei Wang (24 years old) from the city of Ningbo in the Zhejiang province, who works for Johnson&Johnson, was welcomed by Commissioner General Pavel Antonín Stehlík along with representatives of Vítkovice Machinery Group, the general partner of the Czech participation at EXPO 2010. Mr Wang said: “I liked the outside of the Czech pavilion, so I was curious whether it would be just as nice inside, and I was not disappointed: the pavilion is not only beautiful, but I also learned a lot of new things about the Czech Republic. I have decided that I have to visit this country within two years.” The Commission General added: “The success of our marketing strategy for the Czech Republic is truly pleasing. It is giving us the energy we need for the second half of EXPO.”
At this time, the Vítkovice Machinery Group is making use of the meeting room in the national pavilion for its presentation and meetings with its business partners. “Our decision to use the Czech pavilion has shown itself to be the right one: we have had the chance to welcome about one hundred representatives from private and public enterprises. We were pleasantly surprised by such a high level of interest on the part of Chinese businesses,” says Tomáš Schmied, Assistant Sales Director of Vítkovice, a.s. “The meetings were attended not only by representatives of Chinese businesses, but also by representatives of partners from Malaysia, with which we are preparing new projects.”
Presentations on green technologies focussing on environmental protection are taking place at the Czech pavilion at this time. “We are trying to enter a new phase of cooperation with our Chinese partners. The concept of using natural gas and biogas as the ecological fuel of the future is a current topic in China: it relates to the motto of the exposition “Better City, Better Life,” says Aleš Kučera, head of the representational office of Vítkovice Machinery Group in China. The Green Technology project being presented is making use of the original know-how developed by Vítkovice Power Engineering a.s. and Vítkovice Cylinders a.s., whose representatives in Shanghai – Stanislav Olšák and Petr Suchoň – presented tanks made from enamelled metal sheets, sewerage plants, biogas stations, the CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) Project, and steel containers and their application.
Representatives of Vítkovice Machinery Group – a company which has had its representational office in the Chinese People’s Republic for seventeen years and has already managed to successfully put its steel products, such as ship engine shafts, on the fastest growing market in the world – will visit EXPO, the biggest General World Exposition ever, once again in August, when they will present the Green Solution for Ship Engines.
