South Moravia will be introduced in Shanghai

Brno, 26/1/2009

The South Moravian Region is one of the first domestic regions which asked to participate at EXPO 2010. It will be introduced in September 2010 in Shanghai.

"It's an opportunity to make the region more known and to obtain world-wide contacts in the area of tourism and trade. A lot of Japanese tourists and journalists came to visit us after the last EXPO in Aichi. Our exposition was even visited by the Japanese crown prince," said the District alderman, Mr. Miloš Šifalda, at a press conference.

The South Moravian Region will be presented at EXPO for one week in September. This is the month when the Czech National Day will take place in the premises of EXPO, accompanied by a rich cultural program.

The exact form and contents of the regional presentation at the World Exposition will be prepared by the District's representatives in coordination with Commissioner General Office (CGO) at EXPO. At EXPO 2005 in Japanese Aichi, Southern Moravia had introduced its famous personalities, Johan Gregor Mendel and Alphonse Mucha. A replica of the famous Venus of Věstonice and local artisan traditions were also presented. There was also a marionette show prepared for the visitors, where a marionette of a little Japanese boy brought tourists to South Moravia through various world metropolises.

The CGO offers to all regions of the Czech Republic the option of representing themselves in the Czech pavilion in Shanghai. Among others, there will be a Meeting Room and a Multimedia Hall equipped in superior manner available for the region's representatives and their partners.
