The theme of EXPO 2010 "Better City - Better Life" will devote considerable space to "green" technology. China, which is the largest global polluter, will introduce an eco-house with zero energy consumption.

The house will be using solar and wind generated power. Geothermal heating is also planned for, which will heat the structure in winter and cool it during summertime. The room’s ambience will be provided for by houseplants and adequate lighting will be through the sunroof. The building will not be using any battery power, which contributes to environmental pollution. The construction will use recycled materials from municipal solid wastes as well as materials from interior furnishing of the building, which will be user- and environmentally-friendly.

Among the highlights are, for example, beds which measure blood pressure, robots that do housework or the opportunity to make your own brick from waste material and take it home as a souvenir. The eco-house builders are leaving some details out, until the ceremonial opening. The question remains of how many of these revolutionary ideas will find their way into normal life after the World EXPO ends.
