Spain Week starts in Expo Site

Flamenco dances, a delicious cuisine carnival, a Spanish brand exhibit and other activities will be included in a Spanish Week that kicked off yesterday. The Spanish week will go from August 27 to September 5 with the Spain Pavilion's National Pavilion Day falling on August 31.

Fashion show spotlights Czech designers

A fashion show featuring the collections of five leading Czech designers was staged at Bund 18 last night, as part of the Czech Fashion Week that runs until August 25. The theme of the show was memory, and the five designers expressed their understanding on "contemporary memory of a female personality," "memory and its forms," "memory of craftsmanship and creativity," "memory of the future" and "personal memory."

Expo grieves for Gansu

People crowded the Gansu Pavilion at the World Expo yesterday to pay their respects to the victims of the August 8 mudslide in the province. The pavilion was dark only a few lights were used to illuminate a banner saying "Deep Condolences to People Killed in the Zhouqu Mudslide."
